A while back someone was asking about bees in greenhouses. I was
reading some old magazines and came across an article in Bee Craft 1993
by Trevor Tong (whitstable,Kent,England) in which he describes his
experience of supplying colonies for pollinating out of season
raspberries in greenhouses. He used docile colonies as picking the
raspberries had to be done while the bees were there. He placed the
hives in a shaded section of the greenhouse to prevent overheating and
after a few days the bees became acustomed to their new location and
began to work the rasps. One of the vents of the greenhouse was left
open at all times to allow the bees to come and go as they pleased. He
has been doing this for three years.
