Stephanie, like Chris, I, too, had breast surgery: bilateral br
biopsies, about 14 years ago. My daughter was 3 yo and breastfeeding
occasionally. From what I remember, besides having to "fight" with my
physicians to keep nursing, it was not a physically uncomfortable
situation. In fact, I do remember the sensation of nursing that
afternoon, the slight wiggling of the area, as one of feeling good, no
pain at incision sites. My daughter didn't like the appearance of the
bandages, but with some encouragement she began nursing and soon ignored
the bandages. Being able to nurse made me feel normal and healthy, even
as I awaited with some trepidation, what turned out to be good news. My
daughter, Annette, completely weaned about 6 mo. later. (I don't
usually discuss how long I breastfed Annette around her, unless I feel
like embarrassing a 17 yo, which is so very easy to do.)
