Bonnie, I find the physician's assertion that the PDR would be held up in
court as the ultimate authority simply ludicrous. It is a compendium of
information from the drug companies themselves. Any reasonably competent
attorney would readily bring up far more useful references. Briggs would be
one; Hale would be another; a primary reference on a specific drug would
be still another; the US Pharmacopaeia (sp?) would be another. I wouldn't
necessarily bet the ranch on the USP having good bf'ing information but it
wouldn't have the CYA (cover your behind) stuff that is in the PDR, for
heaven's sake!
Back on Lactnet after several weeks of distractions.... and frustrated anew
at these silly stories that "sacrifice breastfeeding on the altar of ignorance."
