Thank you for posting about the Wright article online at SLATE magazine. I
just accessed it through their archives - they call it "compost" - . Even
better news , in my mind, this well-written and sometimes humorous piece is
available to mainstream readers! In my current TIME issue, April 14, 1997
(Ellen's on the cover), on page 75 and 76 is an exerpt from the Wright SLATE
article. Now you don't have to be a cyber-parent, or space cadet as some
co-cleepers have been labeled, to be exposed to the facts about co-cleeping.
yay, for once.
As you smart people are always reminding us, it is for the one's
suggesting the unnatural to prove that it isn't harmful, not for us to feel
we have to justify what millenia have shown to be beneficial... Mr. Wright
points out that" a few weeks of nightly terror presumably (emphasis mine) won'
t scar a child for life. If Ferber's gospel (sounds like a secular Ezzo to
this Lactnetter) harms kids, it's more likely doing so via a second route:
the denial of mother's milk to the child at night."
Give this guy three cheers! Judy Fram ,Brooklyn, NY
