I've passed the notice of John L. Cotter's death on to the VA HIST list.
Never met the man, but when a mere child I read with joy (and drooled over
the pictures) of his _Archaeological Excavations at Jamestown, Virginia_.
I recently picked up the reprint through the Archaeological Society of
Virginia and am still inspired to stay in the field despite the inability
to find lucrative (and intersesting) work. Wish there were more works like
his, and of course, more people like him to put them together. Thanks JLC.
