I am seeking information on the likely age and source/manufacturer of
a clay elbow pipe found at the Palo Alto Inn, a short-lived (ca.
1847-1852) business established on the site of the Palo Alto
Battlefield in Cameron County, Texas (on the lower Rio Grande).

The pipe has in relief on the bowl a railroad engine and car (some
cars with three wheels, the other with two wheels); this motif wraps
around the bowl. Looking down on the stem is a design that looks like
an arrow, but is probably intended to represent the attachment between
railroad cars. Information on the color of the pipe, its paste, or
other characteristics, are not available because I am working off a
xerox of the piece. In size, the pipe may be 2-3 inches in length.

Thanks in advance for any information, suggestions on sources, etc.
