How do modern Western cities cope with the huge amount of
building materials (inclusive of whole and fragmentary personal
objects) that exist after episodes of mass destruction such as
bombing, natural disasters, or angry reptiles? (Yes, I am watching
Gorgo on AMC!). Are they dumped outside the city or does the
city rise in tell-like fashion? Is there, for example, a World War II
stratum on European urban archaeological sites? Sorry if the answer
is obvious, but this is outside my usual area of study.
