Ah, but when you put it in simple everyday language, without making at
least some use of the buzzword of the year, many people think that what you
are saying is simplistic, non-theoretical, obvious, & etc.  This is
especially true of first and second year graduate students, who have just
been forced to read through all the major theoretical works as their
socialization into the field....  Many cases of academic obfuscation are
not attempts to work around "colonialist rhetoric," but attempts to make
the writer's work seem deep and scholarly and to make the scholar look smart.
