              ANNOUNCEMENT OF NEW ANTHROPOLOGY MAJOR AT WHEATON
 
After a hiatus of 18 years, Wheaton College has just reinstated its
anthropology
major. (Wheaton's original anthro major ran from 1939 to 1980.) Beginning the
1998-99 academic year, a student may now major in and earn a B.A. degree in
anthropology at Wheaton. Wheaton's restored anthropology major will consist of
12 hours of sociology and 24 hours of anthropology coursework. The
anthropology
faculty at Wheaton (as listed in the AAA Guide to Departments) are:
 
Dean Arnold (PhD U Illinois 1970; Prof) Archeology, ethnology, ceramic
ethnoarcheology, cultural ecology, Mesoamerica, South America; Alex Bolyanatz
(PhD UC San Diego 1994, Asst Prof) Social anthropology, psychological
anthropology, Melanesia.
