Dear Friends,
I am posting this message for a geology professor at Vanderbilt
University, Richard Stearns, who has been doing some interesting work on
possible surviving original sections of the Natchez Trace, dating to both
historic and prehistoric times. As a geologist, he has valuable insight into
the natural processes associated with the creation and preservation of paths
and road beds. He is aware of the work done on the study of pre-contact
trails in Central America and that European scholars have devoted some time
to the topic as well. He would like to correspond with anyone else who has
done or who knows of studies on the archaeological remains of trails and
roads in any part of the world. Please reply to him at

                         Thanks in advance,
