Lincoln's Report Card
by Alan Feuer

A single page of Abraham Lincoln's fifth-grade report card was recently
discovered at the construction site of a new 7-11 convenience store in
Hodgenville, Kentucky, Lincoln's birthplace. Darrell McPhur, a backhoe
operator, accidently found the historical artifact while digging out the
foundation of the 7-11's planned sub-basement stockroom. After two weeks of
charging 75 cents admission to see the report card (which Mr. McPhur
reportedly kept wrapped in a plastic Ziplock baggie in the crisper of his
refrigerator), Mr. McPhur turned the document over to the Kentucky State
Historical Society.
