Background: interior Alaska, late 19th-early 20th century mining
townsites, excavated during the past couple of years.
Now, I know I'm probably opening up a large Pandora's box here, but is
there an "acknowledged" typology for mid-to-late 19th and early 20th
century bottles out there (e.g., similar to Wilson's "A Classification
System for 19th Century Bottles; Switzur's "The Bertrand Bottles")? Now,
I could extrapolate easily enough from either Wilson's or Switzur's
examples above, but I'm wondering if a perfectly good typology ALREADY
exists that I could tap into, and thus not reinvent the wheel for the
N-th time.
(Oh yes, how about a tin can typology for the same time period? Again, I
have all the terminology for manufacture down for tin cans, and in fact
have already catalogued them all. however, I'd like to place them in a
typology, and thus organize them and be able to refer to them efficiently).
Thank you for your consideration.
