Many so-called privies I have seen are actually filled-in wells. One such
well that we uncovered in Tucson was completely filled with broken whiskey
bottles. When we did some oral history around the neighborhood, we found
that a local bootlegger during Prohibition had used the hole to dump the
evidence when the police had begun to snoop around.
Extrapolation is all well and good when it is labeled as such. I object to
the use of it when it is labeled as "fact" rather than as "speculation".
