I have heard some name for this phenomena.
Could this be because the nurse bees tries to remove mites from pupae
before capping completely. I recall having heard about such a behaviour of
Apis cerana (regarding worker Brood). The final capping of drone brood of
A. Cerana is inforced by the drone itself so that the nurse bees cannot
open it to remove infested drones, thus only drones of A. cerana is infested
with mites. Am I Rigth about this? If I am there is a pointer towards V. mite
ressistance here.
