<<<<< first hand knowledge that would be a
major help to everyone in the industry. If not bleach, does anyone know
how we can sanitize our infected equiptment if bleach won't work.>>>>>
Treatment in England for as far back as I have kept bees has been to burn
all combs, honey and bees under the supervision of an inspector and to
scorch the hive thoroughly with a flame gun. Follow up checks are made on
the rest of the stocks in the apiary. We have not rid ourselves of AFB but
it is certainly being contained. In the area covered by my bees, say some
twelve square miles, there have been two small outbreaks (not affecting my
apiary) in the last fifty years.
EFB is far more troublesome. Any attack not considered too serious in
treated by the inspector with Terramycin. Follow up checks are made and if
the treatment has failed the stock is destroyed as for AFB.
