General Director for Panama Viejo Archaeological site Master Plan
 
The Panama Viejo archaeological site conservation master plan (PVMP) is
intended to be a 10 years comprehensive planning tool. Its primary
objective is the preservation of the original materials and values of the
site founded 1n 1519 and abandoned after a pirate attack  in 1671.The
plan will also try to optimize the use of the educational, recreational
and turistic potential of the site.
 
The PVMP must define the policies and activities regarding each
identified area concerned (architecture, archaeology, history, education,
recreation and turism). The conflictive but promising relationship
between the site and the sourrounding urban area should be taken in the
planning process.
The elaboration of the plan requires a stakk of qualifies personnel, most
of them locally available, and foreign experts if needed.
 
The Direccion Nacional de Patrimonio Historico is seeking for an
experience consultant to be general director for the PVMP. Her/his duties
will include:
Selection of local personnel and complementary services needed for the
Plan. The seleccion must be approced by Direccion Nac. de Patrimonio
HIstorico.
Full direction and coordination of the studies.
Elaboration of periodical and final reports of the work.
 
Qualifications :
Specialized consultant in Archaeology Sites Planning.
M.A. or Ph.D. in Archaeology, Urban History or related field.
Five years  of field experience on planning, management research and
promotion of archaeological sites.
Strong abilities on interdisciplinary group coordination.
Spanish baseic knoledge.
Able to stay for a six month period in Panama/
