My son observed "hundreds" of wasps flying low over a lawn. The wasps
were apparently flying in "searching" patterns, perhaps a breeding
aggregation. They were dark in coloration, predominantly black.
Several years ago I saw a similar aggregation on my lawn. There is no
question that they are wasps rather than bees. Any of you entomology
folks care to venture a guess as to what they might be?? Locations are
near Atlanta, GA USA and about 40 mi N of Atlanta.
Cordially yours,
Jim
