Every now and then I have spotted a worker bee on the ground walking
away from my hive. The bee's wings appear to be undamaged and
operational, yet the bee either is not able to fly or is choosing not to
for some reason. I thought at first that maybe the bee was just worn out
and is walking away to die somewhere, but maybe that is not the case.  I
don't see many of these but I hate to loose any of my bees.
