Dear lactnetters,
I've been asked to do our breastfeeding class this week (very short notice
and no outline..not a big deal) When I do a class I like to use an acronym
or 5 short to the punch statements to keep me on the right track and to
emphasize key points. I came up with this (keep in mind this is very short
notice) What do you think...
!. Knowledge: confidence, how to's, why you do things etc.
2. First feeding at breast: latch, baby suck technique, no bottles
pacifyers
3. Feed often: Baby led feedings, principal of supply and demand
4. Comfort: breastfeeding shouldn't hurt, how to manage sore nipples,
plugged ducts and mastitis
5. Support: The importance of spouse, family, Dr. suppport, going back
to work issues
I think this could be better and I'd like to see what the world of
lactnetters can come up with.... What 5 key points would you hit in a
class....can you make an acronym?
Now that the IBCLC test is done those brains should be on fire!
CONGRATULATIONS!
