I don't have personal experience, but I have been told that the new
formulation of sevin that is being used on apples here in California is okay.

I know a beekeeper who had bees in the apples this year, and he said the
growers in his area used the new formulation. He didn't take precautions
with his hives, and he says he didn't lose any.

Just second-hand information, unfortunately. Good luck.
