Response to John McCarthy:

You are absolutely right, John. The Williamsburg program was picked by the
organizers, but this is not your regular sort of conference. It appears to
me that this is organized more as you would organize an anthology, by
filling certain niches. The program is, frankly, stellar.

For those of us who attended the first SHA conference, back in the dark
ages at Williamsburg, it will indeed be a nostalgia trip. So I suppose it
is an old boys (and girls) meeting. For young whippersnappers like
McCarthy, nostalgia may not carry quite so much weight.

Let the old geezers have their fun, John.
