a friend of mine is looking for introductory info on using GIS; he is planning
to do a regional survey of sites in the andes this summer, and to excavate next
year; he was wondering about the pros and cons of GIS; most specifically, he
would need something cheap, user-friendly (he is something of a technophobe or
luddite), and could be applied both for a regional survey and a single site
