Dan,
In 1991, I assisted the Middletown (CT) Police Dept in an
investigation of a cemetery vandalism at the Chauncey Family Crypt.
The report was written up in an edited volume I co-authored with
David Poirier (CT-SHPO).

In this investigation, one of the burials vandalized was that of Mr.
Henry Chauncey who died in 1863. Mr. Chauncey was a prominent
businessman who was one of the founders of the Panamanian Railroad.
He was buried in a cast-iron coffin and we recovered a set of
dentures (lower jaw only). The teeth were made of porcelain bonded
to a vulcanized rubber base tinted pink to blend with the
coloration of the gums. Quite an unexpected find. I have photos
and site info should you think it useful. All my best,
Nick Bellantoni
