This is in reply to Homer Thiel's question concerning proprietary medicines:
 
I've found that issues of old local newspapers are "chock full" of
advertisements for these proprietary medicines.  Many of the ads explain
exactly why the concoctions should be used and include several testimonials.
However, not many of them say exactly what the ingredients are!
