Ned - i think you hit upon an important point.  Ethnicity is variable.  If,
at your site, you can define different patterns of material deposition that
reflect differences within the community's identity system then you have
defined portions of ethnic identity!  The fact that such identity is
opposite the expected means little, save that OUR expectations of ethnic
identity were wrong.
