HI all, and thanks for ideas. Phyllis, I'm well aware of abuse stuff, and
this mom was very relieved that I named her husband's behavior as "at least
verbally abusive." She needed someone to believe her, which strengthened her
resolve to take care of herself.
The bad suck was there all along, but mom's supply must have been great to
compensate for what the baby didn't do, despite persistently sore nipples.
Only a 4-hour schedule and the 3-month growth spurt got them into trouble.
She's very determined, and has already insisted that her husband go to
individual counseling. Bonita, I documented what she said, verbatim or as
close as I could take notes. Documenting what she said is appropriate and may
protect her and her children if this ever goes to court. In the MD report, I
reported her feelings of unhappiness with her husband. I'll see her at the
D.O.'s office mid-week and will speak with the doc privately.
