Subject: Introductions
Hello,
My name is Tom Langhorne and I am currently a low level
college administrator and adjunct assistant professor of anthropology.
I came into the former as a result of the jobs crunch of the early
'80s, personal considerations, and an unexpected opporutnity that
presented itself. Educationally, I've been involved in historical
archeology and anthropology for over 20 years (BA William & Mary '74,
MA SUNY-Binghamton '76, Ph.D. Michigan State '88). Although I've had
to cease fieldwork, the greatest loss I feel from switching
professions, I occasionally get out for a few days on a local project.
I stay involved through journals, conversations, and most recently,
this list. I also stay involved through teaching 2 upper level courses
(historic american material culture; archaeology of frontiers) in
alternating spring semesters. Research interests include frontiers,
especially industrial and related frontiers; spatial theory/settlement
pattern analysis; the Great Lakes region and North America in general.
I have other eclectic interests, but those don't really fit this list.
As an aside, there may be former classmates of mine out there on the
list, if so, drop me a line and let me know how you are faring.
Tom Langhorne
