Subject: CCC Camps, Again, Again
Mary Ellin D'Agostino wrote that the CCC did some archaeology projects.
This sounds right on to me. The WPA (Works Progress Administration)
also was involved in archaeology at the same time. I confess that I
don't recall ever seeing/hearing of a CCC designated archaeology camp,
but it sounds reasonable. Another avenue that someone might follow, if
they wish to investigate this further, is to see how many of the
archaeologists who worked on CCC/WPA projects are available to give
information about specific locations/projects. I know one of my former
graduate faculty, Moreau Maxwell (professor emeritus, Michigan State)
worked on a WPA project. How many others are out there?
