A cd-rom is a great idea, but in undertaking such a creation, one needs
to think about the long term: things like upward compatability and will
anyone be able to use it in 5 or 10 years and who will pay to
upgrade/convert it to the latest and greatest. Unlike a book, a CD will
probably not be readable (unless you have very antiquated equipment) in
50 years.

What about doing something on the internet? Is that too public? But then,
a CD would be very public too. Will exact locations of sites be ommitted?
