Larry's right, of course, about the fact that "grey" literature is
generally more accessible than some seem to think. But, when I think
about, for instance, how many dozens of requests I've had for the
three volumes already produced on the Jordan's Journey Site, and the
cost and time required to keep reprinting these mammoth doorstops,
complete with fold-out maps, etc... Now a fourth volume is being
produced and, it seems to me, that a nice slim overview/synthesis
volume and a CD-ROM full of all the technical materials would make
everyone's lives easier. Mary Beaudry and Steve Mrozowski took a step
in the right direction by putting lots of data from the Boott Mills
Project on micro-fiche, but I'll bet that there are already more
CD-ROM drives than fiche readers on archaeologists' desks.
