Bishop Museum, the State Museum of Natural and Cultural History, is seeking
to hire an Archaeology Lab Director.  The ideal candidate will have 2+ years
experience in directing an archaeology lab in a contract archaeology or
museum setting.  Experience with database cataloging systems, and
familiarity with ordering and maintaining laboratory supplies and equipment
required.  M.A. in archaeology or anthropology required, Ph.D. preferred.
Familiarity with analyses of historic artifacts, and/or faunal and lithic
materials a plus.  Good interpersonal skills and an ability to work in a
teamwork setting important.
 
Duties include: coordination and management of the receipt, inventory, and
primary processing and sorting of incoming materials, supervision of a
laboratory staff of three to seven people in the cleaning, sorting,
description, and data entry of these collections and their supporting
documentation; processing c-14 samples, and creating budget estimates for
lab work on new projects.
