POSITION OPENING
LABORATORY SUPERVISOR/MATERIAL SPECIALIST
The Cultural Resource Group, Louis Berger & Associates, Inc. (LBA), is
searching for a
Laboratory Supervisor with a background in lithic studies for LBA's
archaeology laboratory
located in Marion, Iowa.
The Lab Supervisor/Material Specialist is responsible for the supervision
of processing,
analysis, and curation of all laboratory materials and for directing
analysis of lithic artifact
assemblages from prehistoric archaeological sites. Duties will include
coordination with
project Principal Investigators on implementing laboratory research
designs, directing lithic
studies, preparation of proposal lab budgets, and oversight of Phase I, II,
and III CRM report
sections on results of lithic analysis.
The Lab Supervisor/Material Specialist will supervise a staff of research
analysts, lab assistants,
and lab technicians. Candidates must have strong organizational skills;
general knowledge
of Midwestern lithic typologies; experience with use-wear and/or other
special analytic
skills; familiartity with database software applications; demonstrated
knowledge of CRM
requirements, especially federal and state curation standards; and the
ability to manage
project records and collections, including meeting budget and schedule
requirements. For
this position, a B.A. in Anthropology/Archaeology or related field is
required; a graduate degree
is highly desirable. Midwestern U.S. experience is preferred. Previous
(at least two years)
supervisory experience in a laboratory setting is required.
Competitive salary is negotiable based on experience. This is a full-time,
salaried postition.
