Actually, Bill left out several important discussion groups. The ETHNOHIS
group is VERY quiet.
H-LATAM (UICVM.UIC.EDU) History of Latin America. The list includes
those of us working in the United States and Mexico on colonial subjects. A
very active list with an international membership.
ANTHRO-L (UBVM.CC.BUFFALO.EDU) Anthropology. This group is also very
active. Discussions range from cultural anthropology to archaeology and beyond
(the paranormal has been discussed). A recent thread involved a definition of
post-processual archaeology.
MUSEUM-L (UNMVMA.UNM.EDU). Museums. This group is quite active and
includes questions on conservation, policies, living history, and specific
museum problems. I have found it quite informative.
The Military History list that Bill mentioned is a lot of fun. We cover
archaeology as well as history and discussions often range far afield.
