Okay all you button freaks, I have one that has stumped me pretty much and am
ashamed that I am forced to ask for additional expertise.

I have been examining a private collection of buttons and have come across
one that defies quick and easy documentation through standard button manuals
(published and unpublished) and personal experience.

The button is circular made of two piece, hollow cast brass. The inner piece
(with probable shank and eye) is missing. The stamped lettering on the outer
piece reads "Finck/Detroit/Special" and is 17.0 mm in diameter.

My guess date on period would be 1850-1900. Does anyone know the actual date
range, manufacturer and source(s) on this type of button.
