might also find the following publication useful:

        Industry. HISTORY & ARCHAEOLOGY No.11 (4 volumes). Ottawa:
        Parks Canada, Dept. of Indian and Northern Affairs.
 
This is an outstandingly useful reference on the subject of clay pipes.
