Dear Susan:
 
I don't have a site with the type of feature you described, but I am working
on a mid-19th century (1831-1860), rural farmstead in Wood County, Ohio.  I
would be interested in knowing what kinds of material culture you have for
comparative purposes as you get further down the road with the assemblage.
