Brief Position Description:  An Archaeologist Planner position is available
in a joint program of the University of New Orleans College of Urban and
Public Affairs and the Louisiana Division of Archaeology.  The archaeologist
will conduct a 10-month planning study to assess the feasibility of
establishing a New Orleans Regional Archaeology Program and to define the
scope and objectives of the program.
 
Qualifications:  A master's in anthropology or archaeology is required; a PhD
is preferred. Experience with an established city archaeology program is
desirable, experience with a major urban historical archaeology project is
required.
 
Salary: $2,292 monthly
 
Dates:  Position will be filled as soon as a suitable candidate is found.
 Priority will be given to applicants who are available to begin work
November 1.  Project will conclude August 31, 1996.
