I don't know if this will help or not, since it is only indirectly related
to battlefields. However, there were two major native American rebellions
against Spanish authority in the 17th century--one among the Pueblos and
the other among various Southeastern groups. Also, the attack on the
Castillo de San Marcos, St. Augustine, Florida, by an army from Carolina is
well documented in historical literature; archaeological coverage is mostly
restricted to site reports that have not been published. That attack was
in 1702-1703, considerably later than your period. I would suggest trying
the bibliographies in the three volumes of Columbian Consequences
(Smithsonian Institution Press) for a start. I do not have texts easily to
hand, but the attack on the Castillo was under Gov. James Moore and I
believe he left his own account; will try to find references and post them.
