These are plugged pores, often caused by a little flap of skin growing over
the opening. They need to be opened mechanically - warm soaks, massage,
pumping etc. Last-ditch approach is using a sterile needle. They seem to be
more common in women with high-fat diets and those who tend to grow skin
tags. And they hurt like h...l. If they look inflamed after being opened,
watch carefully for signs of bacterial or yeast infection and treat
accordingly. Watch out for a plugged duct developing behind the plugged pore.
