Hello Everybody,
Usually I know that someone will post a reply that includes what I
was thinking of BUT I must say something about this topic. I have 4
boys who were all breastfed on demand, no seperation from me etc. My
third son began to suck his thumb at 2 months of age. Every time he
put that thumb in his mouth I sat down and put him to the breast. He
would nurse and nurse and nurse and as soon as he came off the breast
that thumb went in his mouth. He slept with me and did not wean
until after he was 2 years old and I was 7 months pregnant. His
needs were being met in all ways but he still sucked his thumb and
still does at 6 although not as much anymore. I agree entirely with
everything in the post about thumb sucking but I did all the things
possible to meet that baby's needs and he still sucked his thumb. I
refuse to believe that he did it because I was not giving him
something that he needed. As you can tell I feel very strongly about
this :)
