  Your assessment of the money value placed on antiquities was well said.
One thing you may have overlooked is that collectors are often driven by
strong psychological motives which perhaps they do not even understand.
Some years ago in el Salvador one of the local collector's/pot hunters
offered me a beautiful Mayan urn. It was tempting but who can say if he
was in the business of selling and then telling the police. Ergo I confine
my collecting to replicas of beautiful things.
BTW Anits this peo viejo tiene 63 an~os.
