Panamanian majolica production started during XVI century, and by the
middle of the following century it fully supplied the local market. At
Panama Viejo we have excavated and partially study a few contexts
ranging from the end of XVI to the end of XVII centuries, and are able
to recognize temporal variability in type frecuencies.
We are trying to establish wether it became an export merchandise.
I will appreciate any information about published or unpublished reports
of panamanian majolica in other american colonial contexts besides
those mentioned in Goggin's and Deagan's classical books.
