Ed Rodley was enquiring about archaeological databases.

A team of us here in Australia have been shopping around in recent months
for software to support a largish database of archaeological sites. It
needs to be relational, flexible in format, take multi-media inserts, be
friendly for public users and run on Mac or IBM.

We chose Claris Filemaker Pro 3.0. No-one we spoke to could suggest
anything better for our purpose.
