Hello all

I am searching for the name of a cartographic measuring tool.
Apparently this tool is able to measure widths of lines quite easily and
with precision. I heard about it at a presentation given by a
dendorchronologist. However, I have been unable to locate the presenter to
obtain further information. I know it looks somewhat like the top of a
microscope (possibly with a small lens on top (?)).
Does anyone know the name of this tool? has anyone ever used one for
archaeological purposes? Where can I find/order one?

Thanks in adavance and apologies for cross-postings
