Dr. Breetzke: The question is simple but the answer is really much more
lengthy. There is indeed a considerable amount of material, both from France
and from New France (Quebec). Try this recent publication for bibliographic
leads: Marcel Moussette, Le site du Palais de l'intendant a Quebec. Genese et
structuration d'un lieu urbain, Sillery (Quebec), Septentrion, 1994, 230
pages. The article by William Moss ("Cent vingt-cinq ans de decouvertes, une
bibliographie sur l'archeologie de la ville de Quebec", Memoires Vives,
volume 5, summer 1993, pages 14-24) contains a bibliography of 472 titles
concerning the archaeology of Quebec City which would be quite helpful. Dr.
Gregory Waselkof of the University of South Alabama [(205) 460-6911] is
currently preparing a bibliography on the subject. He could perhaps suggest
some English language publications on the subject. But the best really are
in French! Good Luck. William Moss, City Archaeologist, Service de
l'urbanisme, Hotel-de-Ville, C.P. 700, Haute-Ville, Quebec, Quebec, Canada,
