    I'm a newspaper reporter at the Mobile Register in Mobile, Ala. I'm
working on a story about the damage done by varroa mites and tracheal
mites.
 
    There are no bee counts or surveys available for our local area that
could document the decline in either native bees or managed bees.
Therefore, I need to know if there are any studies from anywhere in the
country -- the closer to Alabama the better -- that would document a
decline.
