It would be disturbing to have the head of Johns Hopkins Allergy clinic
confirm that allergies to bee stings could not be tested for. We've seen
lots of posts that indicate many people are depending on such tests.

The useless therapy of years ago? The use of "whole bee extract" at
that time, is a reasonable explanation. Today's therapy using straight
bee venom, even though it may use the same superficial procedure, is
different enough that it need not be considered the same, and seems
clearly effective in many cases.
