A good deal of CCC archaeology was done at Morristown National
Historical Park in the mid-'30's. Some of it was summarized by Ed
Rutsch and Kim Peters in Historical Archaeology, Vol. 12: 15-38
(1977).

In 1936-1937 CCC crews excavated Fort Nonsense at Morristown.
Reports no longer exist, but I've dealt with it in two reports on
file at the park and the park library has an extraordinary set of
photos of the process and blueprints of reconstructions.

CCC crews later worked on the winter quarters of the Pennsylvania
Line and elsewhere in Morristown. They set up a camp in front of the
Pennsylvania Line and the park has an excellent map of it on file,
showing quarters, mess tents, showers, etc. We've discussed the
possibility of archaeology on the site with them in the past, but
it's always been low on their list of priorities.
