James,
     I know that your were concerned about silicone release agents, but
you might think about RAIN-X, an auto windshied product that you can get
at WalMart or possibly at K-Mart.  You might see how that works on a
trial basis.  Wouldn't know how to go about testing for the presence of
silicone in the resulting wax product however, without resorting to an
expensive lab analysis.   MIKE
