I have noticed a series of threads on this listserver dealing with
excavations, particularly in the US, of colonial (post-European settlement
for argument sake) period grave sites. Can anyone advise what particular
codes of practice occur with this type of work, which may in any way
differentiate it from work not involved with human remains. I know, for
example, in the UK that the Burial Act has relevance to archaeologists
undertaking exhumations. I assume there must be legal as well as
professional implications, I would be interested for advice on sources of
reference.
Thanks
Jeremy Green
